LIST OF MEDICAL PROJECTS
The following is a list and short description of medical projects completed by Fisher and Strachan, Inc. (FSI).
KIDNEY DIALYSIS PROGRAM
Gambro Healthcare, Kidney Dialysis Center, Alexandria, Virginia
Complete interior and exterior renovations, as well as site improvements, for a 20 station kidney dialysis treatment center. Contract was awarded on a negotiated basis. Special features of the project included FSI's introduction of client to local design firms for continued contract design, replacement of all existing HVAC (mechanical) systems featuring extensive value engineering to accommodate client's budget and restrictive field conditions, extensive improvements to interior and exterior of the building structure to accommodate thermal and aesthetic requirements, site improvements including curb cuts and drive-through for emergency/ambulatory access.
Gambro Healthcare (Ren USA), Kidney Dialysis Center, Mountainside New Jersey
Complete interior and exterior renovations for a full floor occupancy, 20 station kidney dialysis treatment center near New York City. Contract was awarded through a competitive bid process. Special features of the project included installation of a separate HVAC (mechanical) system, full building design and installation of an automatic fire protection system. This project was a "Flagship" project requiring FSI's involvement regarding special use applications and up-scale finishes.
Da Vita, Haymarket VA
Complete interior renovation and exterior improvements for a 16 station kidney dialysis treatment center. Contract was awarded through a competitive bid process. Special features of the project included concrete slab pour, handicap accessible ramp with guard rail, stone veneer replacement and landscaping.
Gambro Healthcare, Kidney Dialysis Center, Morton, Pennsylvania
Complete design/build contract for interior renovation and exterior improvements for 21 station kidney dialysis treatment and home care facility located in a retail center. Contract was awarded on a negotiated basis. Special features of the project included FSI's contracting with two architectural design firms and a local (Philadelphia) engineering firm for the complete design and construction of two adjacent retail suites, with different floor levels, to provide one facility. The facility consists of a large treatment floor with support labs and exam rooms, employee conference and lounge areas and a significant, seemingly separate, home care service facility. Project required a fast track completion schedule.
Da Vita, Charlottesville, VA
Complete interior renovation for a 20 station kidney dialysis treatment center. Included demolition of existing partitions, reworking existing unique base building elements to accommodate the layout / design criteria inherent with the kidney dialysis facilities. Special features include a lofted spiral ceiling with skylights and curved walls to complement the surrounding architectural features of the building.
Gambro Healthcare, Kidney Dialysis Center, Green Spring Station, Baltimore, Maryland
Interior renovations for a 12 station kidney dialysis treatment center. Contract was awarded through a competitive bid process. Special features of the project included installation of transfer switch and emergency power for continuous automated treatment for patients during a power outage.
FULL FACILITY MRI AND X-RAY PROJECTS
Center for Diagnostic Imaging, Merrifield, VA
Complete design/build contract for new construction, in an existing single story office structure, to provide a full-service radiology center - 12,200 sf. Contract was awarded on a negotiated basis. Responsibility included “fast track” design, development, and construction of all architectural, mechanical and electrical systems needed to support the diagnostic and imaging equipment, coordination of access for and the rigging and installation of imaging equipment, and purchase and installation of equipment shielding including the “R/F shielded room”. The Center houses the following: MRI, CT, 2 R/F, Nuclear and Ultrasound treatment services. The design and construction of this facility was concurrent with that of the Friendship Imaging Center described below.
Woodhill Imaging Center, Dallas, Texas
Complete design/build contract for renovation and expansion of an existing multi level medical center to accommodate new MRI system - 2,800 sf. Contract was awarded on a negotiated basis. Responsibility included design, supervision and construction of specialty subcontractors and “in-house” personnel, installation of “R/F shielded room”, increased floor capacity to support magnet with structural steel, rigging magnet through exterior building system (fourth floor of seven floor office building), and coordination of imaging equipment installation with services provided by FSI. The Center houses an MRI (new), CT, Mammo, 2 R/F and Ultrasound services.
Callowhill Open MRI Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Complete design/build contract for new tenant construction, in an existing, converted warehouse structure, to provide an outpatient, MRI facility - 3,000 sf. Contract was awarded on a negotiated basis. Responsibility included complete architectural, mechanical and electrical design, utilization of “in-house” supervision and construction personnel, as well as coordination of specialty subcontractors, equipment rigging and assisting in imaging equipment installation. Special considerations for project included incorporating the “historic” warehouse features of the building into the construction and atmosphere of this diagnostic facility, cutting and replacing roof (with finished wood rafter and sheathing system) for equipment access and placement of magnet within "R/F shielded room". The Center houses one Access MRI.
IMPROVEMENTS TO TREATMENT OFFICES
Dr. Eric Finzi, Cosmetic Surgery Center, Chevy Chase, Maryland
Competitively bid contract for renovations to existing office space to accommodate exam rooms, treatment rooms, labs and offices for a cosmetic treatment center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. CT and ultra sound examination rooms. Responsibility included consultations on design, supervision and coordination of specialty contractors and "in-house" tradesmen, providing mechanical, plumbing and electric services for specialty equipments. An attention to detail and exceptional finish selections and applications make this facility a sight to behold.
Elite Physical Therapy, Gaithersburg, MD
Negotiated contract that included design and build responsibilities. Include office spaces, consultation rooms, equipment area and a work out room on the 2nd floor of an office building in Gaithersburg, Maryland. By working closely with the clients during design and through construction the facility was completed on time and under budget.
Bethesda Physical Therapy, Camalier Building, Bethesda, Maryland.
Competitively bid contract for demolition of an existing office space and build out of a new physical therapy facility. Responsibility included complete analysis of equipment to value engineer a new electrical service and systems, revised HVAC distribution, supervision and coordination of specialty contractors and "in-house" trade personnel, analysis of code and client's restricted space limitations.
Washington Radiology Associates, Mammo/Ultra Sound Exam Rooms, Bethesda, Maryland
Competitively bid contract for renovations to existing reception area and medical office to accommodate mammography and ultra sound examination rooms. Responsibility included consultations in design, coordination of services with Owner provided equipment, supervision and coordination of specialty contractors and “in-house” personnel, and renovations to the existing electrical and HVAC systems. Project required phasing work in order for medical office to continue to see patients during the construction phases.
MISCELLANEOUS RENOVATIONS, MEDICAL PROJECTS
Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania
Renovations to Radiology wing adding an additional R/F and associated support rooms including teleradiology. Responsibility included design, supervision and coordination of specialty contractors and “in-house” trade personnel, structural reinforcement, purchase and installation of X-ray protection for wall and door systems, rigging imaging equipment and coordination of imaging equipment installation.
Washington Radiology Associates (WRA), in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia
Dozens of minor renovation contracts in WRA's medical centers have been completed with primary emphasis on use of “in-house” personnel, providing X-ray protection in walls, doors and observation windows, demolition for equipment access, coordination and installation of HVAC, plumbing and electrical service for new equipment, etc.
Collins Funeral Home, Silver Spring, Maryland
Renovations to the existing facility to allow for upgrades in equipment and services. Renovations to the existing HVAC, plumbing and electric services were required to accommodate the new equipment. Responsibility included working closely with the client to complete the work in a manner that did not disrupt the delicate nature of the clients business.
Various Office Renovations for Medical Practices
These projects include smaller renovation projects of medical businesses whose work is contracted through the building's management company. FSI’s experience in the more involved projects allows a level of expertise and captive specialty contractors which facilitates the completion and accuracy of the space and occupancy by the tenant.
